Information we collect

You can read Elder Tales without creating an account. If you sign in with Google or email, we receive the account information needed to identify you, such as your email address and, when supplied by Google, your name and profile image. Elder Tales never receives your Google password.

When you use signed-in features, we store your saved stories, bookmarks, reading position and history, interests, private reactions, private reflections, and stories you submit. A published reader story includes the author name and story text you choose to share.

We use Google Analytics to understand visits and improve the site. It may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, browser or device details, and interactions with the site using cookies or similar technology.

How we use information

We use this information to provide accounts and personal libraries, remember reading progress, display reader activity, publish stories when requested, keep the service secure, fix problems, and understand which parts of Elder Tales are useful. We do not sell personal information.

Services that process information

Elder Tales uses Supabase for authentication and database services, Google for sign-in and analytics, and Hostinger for website hosting. These providers process information according to their own privacy terms and only as needed to provide their services.

Your choices

You may continue reading without an account. You may sign out at any time. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated personal information by using the support contact shown on the Google sign-in consent screen. Published story submissions may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion.

Retention and security

We retain account information while your account is active and keep other information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, legal obligations, or resolving disputes. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Elder Tales is designed as a reading service for adults and families and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service changes. The revised date will appear at the top of this page. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
